Romanian contract Steyr Model 1892 Mannlicher bolt-action rifle with Steyr knife bayonet. One of 8,000 trial rifles manufactured for the Romanian government. Barrel length 29 inches. Rifle overall length 48.3 inches. Top of receiver marked “Md. 1892.” Left receiver flat marked “Steyr 1893.” Chamber has row of three proof marks: a “P” flanked by two curving lines, “2 C” with crossed banners, and a Romanian eagle. Stamped throughout with various inspection marks, including on small parts and screws. Rifle has matching serial numbers throughout. Tangent leaf rear sight graduated 300-2000 schritt. Bayonet ricasso marked “OEWG.” Guard marked “2709” and pommel with a Romanian eagle. Blade length 9.75 inches. Bayonet overall length 14.75 inches. Caliber: 6.5x53mmR | Serial Number: 5010.
Very good condition. Mechanically fine, functions without issue. Bore is clear, dim, somewhat rough, but with definite rifling. Stock free of cracks. Missing cleaning rod.
