Colt 1860 Army engraved named presentation revolver, .44 cal. Serial number: 155922, production ca. 1865. Round 8-inch barrel and 3-screw frame marked “Colts Patent.” Relief carved antique ivory grips, with the left grip panel having the coat of arms of Mexico, or Mexican Eagle, and the right panel, a worn three-line presentation inscription. Engraved decoration throughout, with acanthus scrollwork, shell patterns and a distinctive wolf or serpent head motif on the hammer. Gilded trigger guard and front strap. Trigger guard marked “.44 cal.” Ejector assembly, frame, trigger guard and grip frame bear matching serial numbers. | Very good condition. Mechanically fine, functions without issue. All percussion nipples intact. Bore is clear, dark, with definite rifling. Trigger guard and front strap retain about 40% gilding, with sanding/filing marks around the trigger and inside the trigger guard. Some loss of engraved embellishments and markings, including barrel address. Minor hairline cracks at base of grip panels. Caliber: .44 | Serial number: 155922.
