US Model 1884 trapdoor carbine. Barrel length 22 inches. Lock plate marked with eagle and “U.S. 1884.” Barrel marked “VP” over eagle head, “P” and “A.” Buffington adjustable rear sight marked “C.” Single grooved barrel band. Steel butt plate marked “U.S.” Fair condition. Mechanically OK, hammer engages at three points, cocks and drops on trigger pull. Bore is bright and clear. Stock scratched, bruised but not cracked. Trapdoor cam latch marred, some play/looseness between latch and spindle. Antique.
