Original Luftwaffe motorcycle helmet. Introduced in 1935 and discontinued in 1938. Standard issue for Luftwaffe motorcyclists, worn by runners, scouts and escort personnel. Interior of sweatband ink-stamped “L.B.A.B.37” indicating 1937 Luftwaffe contract. Interior of the helmet marked, in white ink, “Gustav Vogel, Chemnitz, 56.” The individual who owned this helmet likely served as a runner for some of the most important political and military offices of Berlin.
