German SS M36 Officer’s Chained Dagger with scabbard and portepee. Steel blade with acid-etched motto viewed under 30x magnification. Anodized steel scabbard with nickel-silver chape and throat. Ebonized wood grip with eagle and enamel inlaid. Solid nickel-silver guards. Lower guard boldly stamped “122740.” Interior of both guards marked “St. St.” Type 2 chain hanger. Spring clip marked “DRGM” under Wotan’s knot. Upper chain has siegrunes proof. Silver wire portepee. Dagger overall length 13.75 inches. Blade 8.75 inches. | Provenance: The owner purchased this dagger in its present condition from Jim Atwood, author of “The Daggers and Edged Weapons of Hitler’s Germany,” in the 1970s. | This lot has a reserve.

Very fine. Blade shows plum-brown patina. Light scratches, bruising of grip. Scabbard drag dented.
